Animalius Dentistry Internship 

Flexible Start Date | 12–18 month fixed-term position

Animalius is offering a 12–18 month Dentistry Internship designed for a motivated veterinarian who wants to build their knowledge, practical skills and confidence in dentistry and oral surgery. 

We welcome applications from candidates available to commence any time between now and January 2027, with the internship length tailored to the successful applicant’s start date and career goals. 

Animalius is a growth-minded team on a mission to support veterinary professionals and help transform veterinary workplace culture. You will work in a beautiful, purpose-built specialist hospital alongside a genuinely collaborative multidisciplinary team spanning internal medicine, radiology, surgery, dentistry and anaesthesia. 

Working closely with our experienced Dentistry team, including WA’s only registered veterinary dental specialist, dental resident, anaesthesia vets and dedicated dentistry nurses, the successful applicant will gain extensive clinical experience in a supportive learning environment. Our multidisciplinary setting also provides opportunities to collaborate with specialists across the hospital in managing complex cases. 

As a Dentistry Intern, you’ll play an integral role in the department, gaining hands-on clinical experience while developing your diagnostic, treatment-planning and procedural skills under specialist supervision. You’ll be involved in: 

• Organising and triaging dentistry referrals 
• Assessing patients and developing diagnostic and treatment plans 
• Coordinating sedation and anaesthesia for safe patient care 
• Assisting with and performing dental procedures under specialist supervision 
• Developing practical skills in dental radiography, periodontal treatment, extractions and oral surgery 
• Communicating with clients and referring veterinarians 
• Building your knowledge of oral pathology and appropriate diagnostic and treatment options 

Throughout the internship, you’ll be supported to develop the knowledge, clinical experience and professional skills required to become a strong candidate for a future dentistry residency. 

We’re looking for a veterinarian who is: 

• Genuinely passionate about dentistry and oral surgery and excited to learn 
• Open to feedback, with resilience, adaptability and a commitment to self-reflection 
• Efficient, organised and able to prioritise effectively 
• A strong team player who enjoys working collaboratively 
• Holds ANZCVS Membership in Veterinary Dentistry, or can demonstrate preparation for or enrolment in the next available examinations
