About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Disability Support Worker to join our team supporting a participant living with a high-level spinal cord injury in Salisbury, Brisbane.

This role involves high-complex personal care and requires staff who are confident working within established clinical care routines. Applicants with spinal cord injury experience are highly encouraged to apply.

Available Shifts

  • Monday to Friday: 6:30 AM – 10:45 AM
  • Monday to Sunday: 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
  • Saturday & Sunday: 7:00 AM – 11:15 AM
  • Monday, Wednesday & Friday: 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM (flexible)

Multiple shifts are available, with the opportunity to build a consistent roster.

Key Responsibilities

  • High-complex personal care
  • Hoist transfers and manual handling
  • Showering, dressing and grooming
  • Bowel care
  • Catheter care awareness
  • Pressure area care and skin integrity monitoring
  • Meal preparation and assistance
  • Domestic assistance
  • Accurate documentation within ShiftCare
  • Monitoring for signs and symptoms of Autonomic Dysreflexia (AD) and responding appropriately in accordance with the participant’s care plan

Essential Requirements

  • Experience supporting participants with spinal cord injuries
  • High-complex personal care experience
  • Competency with hoist transfers and manual handling
  • Experience with bowel care, including Digital Stimulation and Enema administration, or willingness to successfully complete Angelic Care training
  • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, the recognition and management of Autonomic Dysreflexia (AD)
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Current First Aid & CPR
  • Current Driver’s Licence and reliable vehicle
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Highly Regarded

  • Certificate III or IV in Individual Support (Disability, Ageing or equivalent), or a relevant health qualification
  • Experience supporting participants with high-level spinal cord injuries
  • Experience in rehabilitation, disability support or nursing environments
  • Medication competency and other high-intensity support skills
