Position:          Senior / Ventilation Engineer

Location:          South Africa

Role Overview:

We are looking for a Senior / Ventilation Engineer to join our Underground team in South Africa. You will work collaboratively towards delivering high-quality solutions and results to AMC clients.

To ensure the technical delivery of underground ventilation projects, including risk, safety, and quality management. The candidate should have experience in the completion of underground ventilation studies and analyses, as well as the development of technical documentation and reports. The candidate will demonstrate credible professional levels of work output, maintain and strengthen client relationships, and contribute to business development initiatives as part of project delivery. The candidate should have experience in planning, designing, and implementing ventilation systems across diverse underground mining environments, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient airflow management to support mining operations.

AMC’s underground team cover a broad spectrum of services creating a varied and interesting array of projects to work on. Services include technical mining studies (spanning scoping, pre-feasibility and feasibility), life of mine planning, Ore Reserve estimation, due diligence, cost estimation, reporting to JORC, NI 43-101 and similar industry codes.

Skills and Competencies:

Core functions

• Be directly involved in underground mine ventilation projects and consulting work.
• The general requirements for consulting include:
• Carry out technical assignments under the supervision of the Underground Ventilation Lead.
• Work within time and expense budgets provided by the Underground Ventilation Lead.
• Prepare reports according to the AMC Style Guide.
• Promote and sell Mine Ventilation services to new and existing clients, passing on leads accordingly.
• Build relationships with clients, identifying opportunities for growth.
• Serve as a contact for Mine Ventilation enquiries and concerns.

Competencies

• Proven consulting experience with solid analytics, integrative, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication, including high-quality report writing.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a client-focused approach.
• Demonstrated project management skills.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and support team development.
• Open to new ideas, adaptable and committed to continuous improvement.
• Proficient in relevant mining software and general computer applications.

Qualifications and experience 

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in mining engineering.
• Chamber of Mines, Advanced Certificate in Mine Environmental Control (Preferred).
• Minimum 5-8 years’ experience in underground mining with a strong technical and practical focus.
• Experience in Ventilation planning, design and modelling of mine ventilation and colling infrastructure.
• Commitment to high ethical standards and professionalism, with values aligned to those of AMC.
• You must have working rights in the country you are employed in.
