Position Overview

To help us deliver the Laceby Solar Farm project in Northeast Victoria, we are looking for a Logistics Lead to join our onsite construction team, working a 2:1 FIFO/DIDO roster.

The Laceby Solar Farm integrates a 60 MW AC solar generation system with 240 MWh of battery energy storage, designed to deliver reliable, low-carbon power to the regional grid.  Combining renewable generation and advanced storage to ensure firm, dispatchable clean energy, supporting grid stability and Australia’s energy transition.

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, you’ll own the end-to-end logistics function for the project, from planning and procurement coordination through to delivery, laydown and site distribution. You’ll ensure that modules, trackers, inverters, battery systems, electrical equipment and construction materials arrive safely, on time and in the right sequence to keep construction moving.

This is a hands-on leadership role where your planning, coordination and problem-solving skills will directly shape the success of a landmark project.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and manage the project logistics plan, aligning material deliveries with the construction program and installation sequence.
• Coordinate inbound freight, including international shipments, customs clearance, port handling and oversize or heavy-haul transport for major equipment such as BESS units, transformers and inverters.
• Liaise with suppliers, freight forwarders, transport contractors and subcontractors to track orders, confirm delivery schedules and resolve delays or supply issues.
• Plan and manage site laydown areas, receiving, storage and inventory control, ensuring materials are protected, accounted for and easy to access.
• Oversee traffic management, delivery windows and site access in line with approved traffic management plans and local council or road authority requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of deliveries, inventory, damages and discrepancies, and manage claims processes where required.
• Provide regular logistics reporting to the Senior Project Manager, identifying risks to the schedule and recommending mitigation strategies.
• Lead and support logistics personnel on site, including storemen, forklift and plant operators.
• Promote a strong safety culture, ensuring all logistics activities comply with WHS legislation, project safety plans and Chain of Responsibility obligations.
• Work closely with construction, procurement, commercial and quality teams to support efficient and cost-effective project delivery.

What you’ll bring to the team

• Proven experience in a logistics, materials management or supply chain role on large-scale construction, infrastructure, energy or resources projects. Experience on solar, wind or BESS projects is highly regarded.
• Strong knowledge of freight planning, import processes and heavy or oversize transport coordination.
• Experience managing laydown yards, inventory systems and site delivery schedules on complex, fast-paced projects.
• A solid understanding of WHS requirements, traffic management and Chain of Responsibility principles.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan ahead, juggle competing priorities and adapt quickly when things change.
• Confident communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships with suppliers, contractors and project teams.
• Proficiency in MS Office and logistics or inventory management systems; experience with project scheduling tools is an advantage.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in logistics, supply chain or a related field are desirable, along with a current driver’s licence and relevant site tickets (e.g. White Card, forklift licence).
• A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and a genuine interest in contributing to Australia’s renewable energy future.
