About the role
Safety is a one of our core values, and this new role will support day-to-day safety operations across our Kempsey facility. Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, you will spend most of your time on the floor, working with our people, supervisors and managers to make safe work part of how we make every hat. Responsibilities include:
- Support incident reporting, investigations, root cause analysis and corrective actions through to close-out
- Run workplace inspections, audits and safety observations
- Identify hazards, assess risk and put effective controls in place
- Write, review and roll out Safe Work Procedures, Work Instructions and risk assessments
- Check that critical controls work, including machinery guarding and isolation (LOTO)
- Manage hazardous chemicals in line with NSW WHS requirements
- Analyse safety data, spot trends and help build improvement initiatives
- Coach and mentor leaders and employees to improve safety performance
- Keep safety records and reports in our electronic system
About you
Essential
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety
- Working knowledge of NSW WHS legislation, regulations and codes of practice
- Hands-on experience in incident investigation, risk assessment and workplace inspections
- Clear communication skills and a record of influencing people at every level, from the floor to senior management
- The ability to work on your own and manage competing priorities
- Integrity, accountability and an open approach to managing safety
Highly regarded
- Diploma in Work Health and Safety
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial, warehousing or other high-risk operations
- Strong knowledge of machinery safety, guarding and LOTO
- Experience with Donesafe or a similar safety platform
