About the Role

2020 Fire Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Pump Technician to join our team. The successful applicant will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, testing and repairing fire protection pump sets and associated fire protection equipment.

This is a hands-on position suited to a technician with a strong mechanical background and experience working with electrical and diesel-driven pump systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service and maintain electrical and diesel fire pump sets.
  • Diagnose faults and carry out critical repairs on pump sets and associated equipment.
  • Inspect and maintain pumps, electric motors, diesel engines, controllers, valves and associated pipework.
  • Carry out flow testing and performance testing of fire protection systems.
  • Inspect, test and maintain hydrant and sprinkler systems.
  • Identify faults and determine appropriate repair solutions.
  • Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance in accordance with relevant Australian Standards.
  • Complete service reports, test results and maintenance documentation.
  • Liaise with customers, site representatives and other trades when carrying out works.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and to a high standard.

Skills & Experience

The successful applicant will have:

  • A strong mechanical background with experience working on pumps.
  • Experience with electric motors and diesel engines.
  • Experience servicing and repairing fire pump sets.
  • Understanding of AS 2419.1 – Fire Hydrant Installations.
  • Understanding of AS 2118.1 – Automatic Fire Sprinkler Systems.
  • Understanding of AS 1851-2012 – Routine Service of Fire Protection Systems and Equipment.
  • Experience carrying out flow testing and assessing pump performance.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and documentation skills.
  • A strong commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship.
