THE OPPORTUNITY

In this dynamic position, you will oversee the coordination and education of our health and safety systems, identify hazards, assess risks, and implement essential safety controls. Your expertise will guide management and Norsta employees on health and wellbeing while ensuring active stakeholder involvement. Additionally, you will be responsible for ensuring that subcontractors adhere to Norsta North’s safety management systems.

Norsta North, located in Darwin - is a wholly owned subsidiary of NORSTA Maritime Pty Ltd, an Australian company. NORSTA operates in North-Eastern Australia and Northern Australia as the Royal Australian Navy’s Regional Maintenance Provider (RMP). Our mission is to provide essential maintenance and sustainment services for naval vessels in the region.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

You must hold an Australian citizenship

Personal Qualities:

Proactive and decisive, with strong decision-making and influencing skills.
Proven ability to work independently, demonstrating excellent organisational, multitasking, and time management skills.

Leadership & Team Management:

Experienced leader with a commitment to safety, quality, and company standards.
Skilled in building and fostering a collaborative team environment.

Compliance & Industry Knowledge:

Minimum 3 years of experience in a high-risk or similar setting.
Strong knowledge of Defence statutory compliance.

Communication & Interpersonal Skills:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
High-level stakeholder management abilities and a knack for building trust with all stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Certificate IV Work Health and Safety

SECURITY CLEARANCE - Applicants must be able to obtain (and hold) Baseline Defence security clearance, which requires Australian citizenship and a willingness to undertake a National Police Check.
