Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Worker to provide assistance and support to individuals with disabilities in Canberra. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for clients by helping them with daily living activities, providing emotional support, and promoting independence and community integration. This casual role offers a competitive pay rate of 40-45 AUD per hour.

Responsibilities:

Assist clients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
Provide emotional support and companionship to clients
Help clients with mobility and transportation needs
Administer medication and monitor health conditions
Assist with meal preparation and household tasks
Develop and implement individualized care plans
Collaborate with healthcare professionals and family members to ensure the best possible care for clients
Maintain accurate records and documentation

Qualifications:

Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability or Aged Care) or Certificate III in Disability Support or related field
Diploma in Community Services preferred
Experience in the disability support sector, particularly in Supported Independent Living (SIL) and in-home care (IHC) settings
Experience assisting with community access, transport, and social participation
Fluency in Auslan is highly regarded
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Problem-solving skills
Compassionate and patient demeanor
Ability to handle challenging behaviors and situations
Knowledge of disability rights and advocacy
