Good Things Australia are future-focused digital inclusion leaders, advocating, partnering, educating and innovating to ensure no one is left behind in the digital world. We develop and deliver a range of innovative digital inclusion programs to support those most in need, including people over 50 years of age, people with intellectual disability, migrant and refugee women, First Nations peoples, people with chronic health conditions, carers and low income families.

We partner and collaborate with other social impact organisations, industry and government to provide holistic, sustainable and impactful digital inclusion programs and to advocate to close the digital divide.

Good Things Australia is part of the Good Things Foundation Group, delivering digital inclusion programs in Australia since 2017 and in the UK for over 15 years.

About the role

The Head of Programs will play a pivotal role in shaping, leading, and delivering programs that drive digital inclusion across Australia. This is a dynamic, hands-on leadership role where you’ll oversee the design, execution, and evaluation of digital inclusion programs, ensuring they meet community needs and funding requirements.

You’ll lead cross-functional teams, manage key partnerships with government and industry, and contribute to our strategic direction. Your ability to inspire others, solve complex problems, and drive impactful outcomes will be key to your success.

About you

You are a person focussed on making a positive impact in the world and already have significant experience as a Head of Programs or Program Manager working with senior management, executive teams, program and project leads. You must be used to juggling multiple responsibilities and priorities, managing cross functional program/project teams and be able to manage multiple projects and programs across an organisation.

Key Objectives and Accountabilities

Collaboration, leadership and strategy

Collaborate with the Executive Team to shape program strategies aligned with our mission
Provide thought leadership on emerging trends in program design and digital inclusion
Build and nurture partnerships with government, industry leaders, and community organisations
Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and high performance
Manage program budgets to ensure efficiency and sustainability

Program design and delivery

Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of digital inclusion programs
Ensure programs meet contractual obligations, deliver measurable outcomes, and adapt to community needs
Drive continuous improvement through data-driven insights and feedback loops
Identify opportunities for program growth, scalability, and integration of emerging technologies

Team leadership and development

Lead, mentor, and support a team of Program Coordinators, Network Engagement staff and Helpline Coordinator staff
Work closely with grant team and impact measurement team
Promote a positive, inclusive, and collaborative team environment
Support professional development and capacity building within the team

Stakeholder and partner engagement

Represent Good Things Australia at key meetings, events, and in stakeholder forums
Manage relationships with funders, government bodies, and collaborative partners
Advocate for digital inclusion, influencing policy and program opportunities

Data, reporting and systems

Oversee data collection, reporting, and analysis to measure program impact
Work closely with the technology team to support Salesforce maintenance, development and system integrations
Ensure robust project management practices and risk management processes are in place

Person specification

Essential knowledge, skills and experience

Proven experience in leading programs, ideally within community, government, or not-for-profit sectors with demonstrated success in program design, delivery, and evaluation
Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, manage, and develop diverse teams
Monitoring program performance and preparing status reports on progress, issues, risks, and actions
Proven high level experience on grant funding processes, guidelines, policies, and procedures
Able to emphasize the integration of technology to enhance program delivery and impact by leveraging technological solutions for efficient grant management, data analysis, and reporting
Experience managing budgets, contracts, and stakeholder relationships
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage, engage and influence at all levels
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities

Desirable knowledge and skills

Knowledge of digital inclusion, social impact, or community development
Proficiency in Salesforce and project management tools (e.g., Monday.com)
Experience with user-centered design approaches

Education and qualifications

Tertiary qualifications in social policy, business, communications, project management, or related fields (highly desirable)
Project management certifications or relevant skills (desirable)
