At AJC, you’ll join a Sydney-based practice shaping the way people live, work, and play through architecture, urban design, and interiors. For more than 60 years, we have delivered innovative and sustainable projects across education, sport, housing, community, and urban design.
Our team of architects, designers, urban thinkers, and business professionals is united by a shared commitment to creativity, collaboration, and excellence. We value diverse perspectives and believe the best outcomes come from working together to solve complex challenges.
Joining AJC means being part of a practice where people are encouraged to contribute, learn, and grow. You’ll have the opportunity to work on meaningful projects, collaborate with talented colleagues, and help shape places that make a lasting impact on communities. While our work has earned recognition locally and internationally, including being the only Australian practice to receive a Silver Medal from the International Olympic Committee at the IOC/IAKS Awards, our success is built on the talent, expertise, and dedication of our people.
Our people are what make AJC unique. Since 1965, we’ve built a practice where talented individuals can learn, collaborate, and do their best work. We believe great ideas come from diverse perspectives, open discussion, and a willingness to challenge the status quo. Together, we create exceptional projects, lasting relationships, and meaningful careers.
We invest in your growth by supporting ongoing learning, professional development, industry engagement, and registration pathways, helping you build a rewarding and fulfilling career.
We support your pathway to professional registration through A+ Membership with the Australian Institute of Architects, mentoring, PALS, and paid study and exam leave.
Join an inclusive workplace where diverse perspectives are valued, people are respected, and everyone is empowered to contribute and succeed.
We recognise that flexibility looks different for everyone. Our hybrid approach supports a range of flexible working arrangements, including varied start and finish times, occasional remote work and part-time arrangements.
We support the wellbeing of our people through flexible ways of working, access to wellbeing resources, and initiatives that promote healthy, sustainable work practices.
We value connection and community, with regular social events, studio celebrations, employee-led initiatives, and opportunities to build relationships within and beyond AJC.
A Legacy of Design, Built Over 60 Years
For more than 60 years, AJC has been shaping the places where people live, learn, work, and connect. Founded in 1956 by John Allen and Russell Jack, and later joined by Keith Cottier, the practice has grown from a small architectural studio into one of Australia’s leading multidisciplinary design practices.
While much has changed over the decades, our commitment to thoughtful design, collaboration, and innovation has remained constant. From education, commercial, and residential projects to large-scale master planning and urban design, we bring creativity, technical expertise, and a deep understanding of people and place to everything we do.
Today, AJC is a diverse team of architects, designers, urban specialists, and business professionals united by a shared ambition to create meaningful and lasting impact. We are known not only for the projects we deliver, but for the collaborative culture that supports learning, encourages new ideas, and helps people thrive.
As we look to the future, we continue to build on a proud legacy of design excellence, shaping communities, cities, and opportunities for the next generation.
