We provide fully integrated environmental and social assessment and management services including concept and feasibility, technical assessment, consultation, approvals, delivery, operation, and decommissioning.
Umwelt are seeking to appoint a highly skilled and experienced Principal Environmental Consultant, to join their NSW Environmental Management and Compliance Team. This role can be located within either our Sydney, Newcastle, Brisbane or Melbourne offices.
Working as part of our NSW Environmental Management and Compliance Team, this role will lead projects across a range of sectors. This role will also provide environmental compliance guidance and oversight, on-site environmental support, auditing, closure planning, creation and execution of environmental management systems and plans, environmental licensing, and evaluation and supervision of specialist technical studies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high quality environmental management and compliance support works, with support of the broader NSW Environmental Management and Compliance team
- Conduct environmental audits in accordance with relevant regulations and standards
- Develop, implement, and manage environmental management systems
- Provide expert advice and guidance on environmental compliance issues to clients
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver projects
About You:
- Degree in Environmental Science or Natural Resources Management
- Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, standards, and best practices
- Proven experience in leading multi-disciplinary post-consent projects and/or environmental audits
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Certified Lead Auditor (ISO 14001) (not essential)
- Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in environmental consulting / auditing
- Strong people focus and leadership approach, with the ability to balance client, employee, business, and operational needs to deliver high value sustainable outcomes
- An ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with a range of stakeholders including clients, government agencies and the community
- A high level of motivation and self-direction
- Australian Drivers licence
