Job Overview

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Chef de Partie to join our team at The Dabbling Duck award-winning pub restaurant. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop your culinary expertise within a professional kitchen environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality dishes from fresh ingredients, maintaining food safety standards, and supporting the overall kitchen operations. Previous kitchen experience and a genuine enthusiasm for food preparation are essential for this position. We’re also interested to meet less experienced, younger candidates for a trainee kitchen assistant position.

Duties

Assist in the preparation and cooking of a variety of dishes according to recipes and standards

Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with health and safety regulations

Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations and kitchen equipment

Deputise in the absence of senior team members, to ensure smooth operations

Follow food safety protocols at all times, including proper storage and handling of ingredients

Contribute to menu development by suggesting new ideas and improvements

Assist with meal presentation to ensure dishes are served attractively

Collaborate with the kitchen team to meet quality standards and customer expectations

Requirements

Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or a similar role within a restaurant or hospitality setting

Strong knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices

Experience in meal preparation and food prep techniques

Ability to work efficiently under pressure during peak hours

Good organisational skills with attention to detail

Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team

Previous restaurant experience or serving background is advantageous but not essential

A genuine passion for culinary arts and continuous learning in the kitchen

The salary agreed will be enhanced by the addition of a share of gratuities, and the working pattern is a compressed hours spread over a 4 day week with 3 days off.
