About Cork Bays & Fisher

Cork Bays & Fisher (CBF) is a specialist insurance and bonding broker supporting businesses across the travel industry. We combine industry knowledge with a personal approach, taking the time to understand our clients and arrange solutions that reflect their needs and the risks they face.

We pride ourselves on building lasting relationships, making insurance easier to understand and providing clear advice and practical support throughout the client relationship. Our experienced team is committed to delivering a responsive, professional service.

The Role

We’re looking for an experienced Account Handler to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with at least two years’ experience supporting commercial or corporate insurance clients, and the ambition to progress towards an Account Executive role.

Working alongside experienced Senior Account Executives, you’ll support an existing portfolio of travel businesses, including travel agents, tour operators and travel management companies. You’ll take the time to understand how each client operates, helping them arrange suitable cover and providing clear, practical support throughout the insurance process.

You’ll take ownership of day-to-day account handling across specialist travel-sector and wider commercial insurance, with support on larger and more complex cases. The role offers the opportunity to build your technical knowledge, strengthen client relationships and develop towards greater responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day insurance needs of an existing portfolio of travel businesses, taking time to understand their operations, risks and priorities.
  • Provide a personal, responsive service, answering enquiries clearly and keeping clients informed from initial query through to resolution.
  • Coordinate renewals, gather up-to-date risk information and prepare quotations, mid-term adjustments and policy documentation within agreed timescales.
  • Work with insurers to negotiate suitable cover and competitive terms, explaining options, key conditions and exclusions in a way clients can understand.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, insurers and colleagues, supporting client retention and the development of existing accounts.
  • Support new business enquiries and quotations, working with Account Executives to provide a smooth introduction to CBF and ongoing account servicing.
  • Work closely with Account Executives on larger and more complex cases, referring technical queries and decisions beyond your authority to the appropriate colleague.
  • Recognise changes in clients’ businesses and identify opportunities to strengthen their protection, referring wider insurance or bonding requirements to the appropriate colleague.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in Acturis, keeping activities and follow-up actions organised and meeting agreed deadlines.
  • Follow FCA requirements and internal procedures, raising concerns promptly and working with specialist colleagues when clients need help with claims or other complex queries.

About You

You’ll be a confident and proactive Commercial or Corporate Insurance Account Handler, ready to take the next step in your career. You’ll have:

  • A minimum of two years’ experience as an Account Handler within commercial or corporate insurance.
  • Sound working knowledge of commercial insurance products and the ability to manage renewals, mid-term adjustments and policy administration accurately.
  • Experience using Acturis to maintain client records and manage account activity.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with a personal approach and the ability to make insurance easier for clients to understand.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • A confident, proactive approach to problem-solving, with the judgement to recognise when additional support or approval is needed.
  • A self-motivated and enthusiastic attitude, with the ability to work independently in a remote role while staying connected to the wider team.
  • Commercial awareness, with an interest in understanding clients’ businesses, retaining their trust and developing lasting relationships.
  • A genuine desire to build a long-term career within insurance.

Travel industry knowledge and progress towards Cert CII are desirable but not essential.

Working alongside experienced Senior Account Executives, you’ll develop your understanding of travel businesses and their insurance needs, building confidence in more complex account handling. As your skills grow, you’ll have the opportunity to discuss greater client responsibility and progression towards an Account Executive role, subject to your readiness and opportunities within the team.
