Description

Build the Future of Autonomous Systems

SYOS designs and manufactures advanced uncrewed systems across air, land, sea, and subsurface domains. We combine intelligent engineering, AI-driven autonomy, and innovative design to create next-generation vehicles operating in some of the world’s most challenging environments.

About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Logistics Lead to establish and develop an efficient, reliable and high-performing logistics operation at our facility. As a key member of the Supply Chain team, you’ll lead day-to-day materials management, warehouse operations, inventory control, packing and despatch, ensuring our manufacturing teams have the materials they need to deliver on time.

This is a hands-on leadership role in a fast-growing organisation, offering the opportunity to shape stores and logistics processes from the ground up. Working closely with Production, Engineering, Procurement, Quality and Programme teams, you’ll improve material flow, maintain inventory accuracy, manage logistics performance and drive continuous improvement across the facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the logistics team: Manage and develop the Goods-In, Stores, Material Handling, Packing and Goods-Out teams, ensuring effective workforce planning, training and day-to-day operational performance.
  • Manage materials and production supply: Ensure materials, components, packaging and work-in-progress are available where and when required, coordinating replenishment and resolving shortages with Planning, Procurement and Production.
  • Oversee warehouse and inventory operations: Maintain accurate stock records, robust cycle-counting processes, effective storage and stock rotation, and clear material identification and traceability.
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound logistics: Manage incoming deliveries, finished goods packing and despatch, transport providers and export activities to support reliable customer delivery.
  • Maintain ERP/MRP data integrity: Ensure material receipts, issues, transfers and stock movements are accurately recorded, using system data to support operational decisions and supply chain reporting.
  • Drive continuous improvement: Apply Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kanban and other relevant material replenishment principles to improve material flow, productivity, space utilisation and inventory accuracy.
  • Champion safety, quality and compliance: Promote safe working practices, maintain housekeeping standards, support ISO 9001 requirements and audits, and ensure logistics activities comply with relevant company procedures and trade controls.

What We’re Looking For

  • At least five years’ experience in materials management, logistics or warehouse operations within a manufacturing environment.
  • At least two years’ experience managing warehouse and/or materials operations.
  • A strong understanding of manufacturing material flow, production logistics, inventory management and stock accuracy improvement.
  • Excellent working knowledge of ERP/MRP or stock management systems, with experience maintaining accurate transactional data.
  • Strong Excel, analytical and reporting skills, with the ability to use data to identify problems and improve performance.
  • Essential experience and understanding of freight management, import/export processes and applicable trade control regulations.
  • Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, influence stakeholders and work collaboratively across functional boundaries.
  • A proactive, detail-oriented and solution-focused approach, with the confidence to identify root causes and implement lasting improvements.

Desirable Experience and Qualifications

  • Experience establishing logistics or warehouse operations within a start-up or new facility.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing environments, including Kanban, Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI), pull systems and milk runs.
  • Experience implementing or improving warehouse management systems, ERP processes or inventory policies.
  • Familiarity with engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs) and technical specifications.
  • Strong supplier management and negotiation skills, with an understanding of supply chain costs and drivers.
  • A formal qualification in Supply Chain, Logistics or Operations Management.
  • Six Sigma or relevant Lean training or certification.
