Job Title: Assistant Management Accountant

Location: Warrington (onsite)

Salary: £30,000 – £36,000 (depending on experience and qualifications)

Contract: Full-time, permanent

About the Company: We are a dynamic, fast-growing property tech and franchising business based in Warrington. We’re passionate about revolutionising property investment through innovative technology, expert guidance, and a commitment to empowering investors at every level. Our small, close-knit finance team plays a pivotal role in supporting business growth, driving efficiencies, and preparing for future opportunities. We are looking for a proactive and technically capable Assistant Management Accountant to support the Head of Finance in delivering accurate, timely financial information and contributing to continuous improvement across the finance function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation of monthly management accounts.
  • Post and manage journals, prepayments, accruals, reclassifications, and intercompany recharges across the group companies.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and oversee the purchase ledger and sales ledger functions, ensuring timely processing and query resolution.
  • Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and contribute to rolling forecasts.
  • Collaborate closely with the Head of Finance during the month-end close process, helping to streamline and improve the current 5-day close timeline for faster, more accurate reporting.
  • Work with internal stakeholders and teams across the business to identify procedures for continuous improvement, service optimisation, and better financial controls.
  • Carry out ad-hoc project work as required to support wider business objectives (e.g., system enhancements, acquisition support prep, or franchise performance analysis).
  • Handle customer and supplier queries via phone and email, maintaining strong relationships and resolving issues efficiently.
  • Contribute to general ledger maintenance, compliance checks, and ad-hoc reporting.

The Successful Candidate Will Be:

  • Experienced in preparing management accounts (or strong exposure to month-end processes).
  • Confident and accurate with accruals, prepayments, journals, and intercompany accounting.
  • Proactive with excellent spreadsheet skills (advanced Excel essential)
  • AAT qualified (or equivalent) and actively studying towards further qualifications (e.g., CIMA, ACCA) with a genuine desire to progress.
  • Bring an inquisitive, problem-solving mindset: investigate variances, identify root causes, and proactively suggest process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Desirable

  • Experience in working in an estate agency, multi-site businesses or similar
  • Purchase and sales ledger experience
  • Payprop, any property CRM
  • Experienced in using Xero accounting software.
