We are currently seeking a motivated and reliable Shunter with warehouse experience who is looking to develop into a Shunter role. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn new skills and undertake further training and development.

 

 Key Responsibilities: 

 

  • Responsibility for location of stock receipts into the warehouse after ensuring that the paperwork and goods are correct, raising any discrepancies to the Team Leaders and Managers. 
  • Responsibility for picking goods from stock as and when required as directed by the Team Leaders or Managers. 
  • Operation of mechanical handling equipment (Counterbalance, Pivot, Reach and Pedestrian pallet trucks) to move pallets around the warehouse to meet business needs. 
  • Inspection of the trailer prior to loading goods, to ensure that the vehicle adheres to cleanliness and hygiene standards to transport goods and to sign load sheet to confirm vehicle and goods have been checked. 
  • To ensure that goods are loaded and unloaded as directed by the Team Leader or Manager ensuring that goods are correct and not damaged. 
  • To perform stock movements as required in accordance with the Company’s procedures. 
  • To ensure that high standards of housekeeping are maintained throughout the Warehouse and damaged products are brought to the attention of the Team Leader or Manager. 
  • Full adherence to health and safety policy and procedures at all times, reporting any broken, defective or faulty equipment to a manager to ensure the safety of all staff. 
  • Any other such task deemed reasonable by the line manager and commensurate with the post. 

Required Skills

  • Previous experience in warehouse operations, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience in shunting operations.
  • Good understanding of health and safety requirements within a warehouse setting.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced operational environment.

 

Desired Skills

  • Class 1 Driving Licence.
  • Adherence to all UK road traffic laws and regulations, always ensuring safe and compliant driving.
  • Experience completing vehicle inspections and maintaining defect books at the start of each shift, reporting any issues promptly to the appropriate persons.
  • Ability to move loaded and unloaded trailers safely and efficiently to meet business requirements.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Flexible approach to working hours and operational demands

Hours of Work:  Rotating shifts of 06:00am to 14:00pm and 14:00pm to 22:00pm. The successful candidate must be able to work both shift patterns on a rotational basis.

£13.33 per hour + £1,000 Annual Shift Premium
