About Lucy

About Lucy

Lucy is a 24 year old woman who lives in her own home in Ledbury.

Lucy has autism and a learning disability and requires support with aspects of everyday life. She can sometimes find situations challenging and benefits enormously from people who are calm, patient, consistent and able to build trust with her.

Lucy also has a history of seizures and takes prescribed medication, so her support team needs to be willing to undertake training and follow her support plans carefully.

The most important thing is that Lucy has a team around her who see the person, not the diagnosis.

Lucy loves getting out and about. She loves cats and alpacas, visiting the library, reading, going to coffee shops, crafts, puzzles, hydrotherapy and gardening. She has her own car which her support workers can drive when taking her out.

Lucy is just starting to enjoy connecting with others at social groups and would love to make new friends and build relationships. She would benefit from the support of consistent staff who she knows and trusts to help her feel comfortable in social situations, attend more groups and develop her confidence in connecting with others.

A big part of the role is helping Lucy develop confidence, try new things and become more independent -while making sure she has fun along the way.

You will get to know Lucy gradually and will receive the training and support needed to understand how best to support her.

About you

You will:

  • Put Lucy first and appreciate her for the amazing person she is
  • Stand by her through tough times and be resilient
  • Assess situations with patience and empathy
  • Bring a lively, friendly, and caring personality
  • Have a good sense of humour and be able to share jokes and pranks
  • Be trustworthy, loyal, and upfront, with strong boundaries
  • Follow routines and be flexible and creative when needed
  • Communicate well and be reliable and supportive
  • Be willing to learn about Lucy through training provided by Seco Support and those that know Lucy best in order to support Lucy with a person-centred approach

Full UK driving license is preferred for this role. Experience in a similar role is desired.

Full training will be provided through Seco Supports induction programme and online learning. Full referencing and a full enhanced check of the Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) will be required for this position.
