Description
About Us
K39C is expanding its UK defence engineering capability, with a particular focus on supporting the complex weapons sector across systems engineering, integration and through-life support. This is a growing area for us, and we are looking for specialists who can help shape our approach as we develop our presence in this field.
The Role
We are seeking expressions of interest from experienced Complex Weapons Systems Engineers to join our team, supporting the design, integration and qualification of guided weapon systems. You’ll bring technical expertise in complex weapons engineering and help us build our capability, processes and reputation in this space.
These are mid to senior roles suited to an engineer ready to take technical ownership of subsystem or system level work, such as guidance, navigation and control (GNC), propulsion, warheads and fuzing, or seekers, within a regulated, security-cleared environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the design, integration and verification of guided weapon systems or subsystems (e.g. seekers, GNC, propulsion, warhead/fuzing)
- Produce technical documentation, safety cases and qualification evidence to MOD and Def Stan requirements
- Help develop our engineering approach and standards for complex weapons work, aligned with UK defence standards and established approaches within the complex weapons sector
- Support trials, range testing and technical evaluation activities
- Conduct technical risk assessments across the weapon system lifecycle
- Provide technical input on export control (ITAR/UK export licensing) considerations where relevant
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical governance and design reviews
About You
- Degree in a relevant engineering discipline (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering or similar)
- Proven experience in complex weapons, missiles, munitions or a related regulated defence sector
- Familiarity with relevant Def Stan and MOD safety/qualification standards
- Chartered Engineer status (or working towards) with a relevant institution (IMechE, IET, RAeS) desirable
- Strong systems thinking and cross-disciplinary collaboration skills
- Comfortable operating within a security-cleared environment
Security Clearance
Due to the nature of this work, successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain UK Security Clearance (SC) as a minimum. Eligibility will depend on the requirements of the relevant programme and may include nationality and UK residency criteria. Some roles may require a higher level of clearance and may be subject to additional nationality restrictions arising from security or export-control requirements.
