About DataVita
DataVita is a next-generation cloud and infrastructure company operating from Tier III-certified data centres in Scotland. We work at the bleeding edge of AI adoption, automation, and how these technologies can be integrated into complex legacy environments to deliver genuine transformation.
DataVita is the fastest growing technology company in Scotland, with plans to deploy and invest over £2 billion in the coming years. You would be joining at a relatively early stage of that trajectory. For the right person, this is a chance to build something from the ground up inside a business that is scaling fast.
About the Role
You will drive new business primarily within the public sector, understanding what public bodies, local authorities, and other publicly funded organisations are trying to achieve, and working out how DataVita’s capabilities can get them there. That might start with a cloud migration, but it rarely ends there. Our public sector customers typically engage us across multiple services because the problems they face, often shaped by legacy infrastructure, budget cycles, and compliance obligations, do not fit neatly into a single product box.
You own the full sales lifecycle from first conversation to contract close, navigating public sector procurement frameworks and working with our pre-sales and technical teams to build solutions that genuinely fit what the customer needs.
Our contract values are high. Our sales cycles are long and complex, shaped by the realities of public sector buying, frameworks, tender processes, and multiple stakeholders. You will not be dealing with a high volume of inbound enquiries. If you are expecting to be fed a pipeline of warm leads, this is not how we operate.
Our approach to the public sector market is disruptive. We do not follow the playbook that traditional MSPs or hyperscalers use when selling into the public sector. If you need a service catalogue and a pricing matrix before you can have a conversation with a customer, you will struggle here. here.
What Matters in This Role
Relationships are everything – with customers, but also with the suppliers, partners, and vendors around them. If you can build genuine relationships at every level, from the engineer racking servers to the CIO setting strategy, you already have the most important skill this job needs.
We sell by doing the right thing, even when it costs us the deal. If we’re not the right fit for a customer, we say so and qualify out. We’re playing a longer game than any single transaction, so if your instinct is to close at all costs, this isn’t the right seat for you.
Think like a business owner, not a salesperson. Spot the opportunities others walk past, and lean into DataVita’s unconventional position rather than fighting it.
You’ll also need to get comfortable with the technology. This isn’t a technical role, but our customers live at the cutting edge, so you’ll need to understand things like cloud architecture, AI infrastructure, and high-performance compute well enough to hold a credible conversation.
Short term, activity and work ethic matter more than results. We’ve no time for coasting or waiting to be told what to do next.
This Role Is Right for You If
- You naturally question processes and look for better ways of doing things, rather than following them just because they’re in place
- You’re self-directed and thrive when given autonomy, rather than needing close oversight to stay on track
- You’re genuinely curious about how technology is changing the way we work, and want to be part of that shift
- You measure success by the value and relationships you build, not just the volume of deals closed
- You’re comfortable shaping the offer as you go, without a fixed product catalogue or pricing sheet to lean on
- You’re motivated to build your own pipeline, rather than relying on inbound leads or warm introductions
- You enjoy ambiguity and rapid change, and can find your own way without a fixed playbook
- You’re energized by pace and intensity, and do your best work when things move fast
