Most people who want to try fractional CFO work have to go it alone. They find their own clients, do their own bookkeeping and build their own models.

We’ve built something different.

At Fractional Finance, every client gets a full finance team: Finance Assistants, Finance Managers, CFO. We work with Tech and Services businesses turning over £1m–£10m that need real financial leadership but aren’t ready for a full in-house function.

We’re part of Fracteura, the group bringing fractional leadership together, Fractional Finance and Fractional Human Resources work across a truly interesting portfolio of clients.

We’re growing quickly and investing in our brand, our infrastructure and how we use AI with clients.

We’re looking for a Fractional CFO to lead a portfolio of these clients.

The role

On day one you’ll take on a portfolio of existing clients, and it will grow as we do. You’ll work directly with founders and leadership teams on strategy, forecasting and Board reporting. A Finance Manager and Finance Assistant will handle the day-to-day for each client.

You won’t just sign things off. When a model or set of management accounts isn’t right, you’ll get into it and fix it.

It suits someone stepping up into their first CFO role, or an experienced CFO who wants to see what fractional work is like while staying part of a team.

What you’ll do

• Act as CFO for a portfolio of clients, with room to take on more as we grow
• Lead, support and challenge the Finance Managers and Assistants who deliver for your clients
• Turn founders’ strategic goals into financial and cashflow forecasts
• Lead Board and SLT meetings with clear analysis, insight and challenge
• Review management accounts and VAT treatment, and build or rework the models yourself when needed
• Work with your clients’ banks, advisors and other stakeholders
• Hold clients to their goals and support them when they need it
• Help our Founder/CEO and COO shape the systems and processes behind our service

You’ll be a great fit if you…

• Are a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), and are either a Head of Finance ready to step up or already in your first CFO role
• Are confident challenging VAT treatment and management accounts
• Build financial models and forecasts, including scenario analysis, that inform real decisions
• Communicate clearly and confidently with founders, SLTs and Boards
• Know your way around Xero and its ecosystem (e.g. Fathom), and have strong Excel skills
• Can switch between clients without losing momentum
• Work independently, prioritise well and don’t need close supervision
• Have managed and developed a small team
• Use AI in your day-to-day work and want to help shape how we use it with clients
• Enjoy working with ambitious Tech and Services scale-ups

Team and process

You’ll report to our CFO & Co-Founder. Each client’s Finance Manager reports to you, and their Finance Assistant reports to the Finance Manager.
