Role Purpose:

Market leading M&E Contractor is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Commissioning Engineer to join their team in the United Kingdom. As a Electrical Commissioning Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful delivery of our projects by coordinating, managing, and executing the commissioning process for various mechanical systems within commercial and industrial buildings.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and oversee the commissioning process of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, backup generators, fire alarm systems, and other electrical infrastructure.
  • Develop commissioning plans, conduct pre-functional testing, and establish protocols to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Perform detailed functional and performance tests on electrical systems to ensure their proper operation, functionality, and efficiency.
  • Identify and troubleshoot electrical issues, recommending and implementing solutions to optimize system performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with project managers, designers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project completion and timely delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and keep up-to-date on industry best practices and emerging trends.
  • Create comprehensive commissioning reports, documenting test procedures, results, and recommendations for improvements or repairs.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to clients, project teams, and maintenance staff on electrical system operation and maintenance procedures.

Skills: & Qualifications

  • Proven experience as an Electrical Commissioning Engineer in the construction and facilities management industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and emergency systems.
  • Strong understanding of electrical codes, regulations, and standards (e.g., BS 7671, IEC 60364).
  • Proficiency in conducting functional and performance tests on electrical systems using appropriate testing equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to identify issues and provide practical solutions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, clients, and contractors.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Highly motivated and self-directed with the ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CIBSE, IET, or equivalent) will be considered an asset.
