We are currently recruiting for a Void Finisher to join our team in Launceston.
Role Overview:
As a Void Property Finisher, you will play a key role in ensuring empty social housing properties are completed to a high standard and ready for reoccupation. Working as part of the voids team, you will focus on the finishing touches that bring a property together, including painting and decorating, making good, fitting fixtures and fittings, and completing minor repairs.
You will take pride in your workmanship, attention to detail, and ability to ensure every property meets the required Lettable Standard. You will work efficiently to complete properties within agreed timescales, helping to minimise void turnaround times and ensure homes are ready for new tenants.
Responsibilities
- Carry out finishing works within void social housing properties to ensure homes are clean, presentable, safe, and ready for reletting.
- Undertake painting and decorating, including preparing surfaces, filling, sanding, applying paint, and completing touch-ups to a high standard.
- Complete final finishing tasks, including fitting door handles, hinges, locks, curtain rails, shelving, bathroom accessories, and other fixtures and fittings as required.
- Carry out minor carpentry repairs, adjustments to doors and cupboards, and other small remedial works to ensure everything is in good working order.
- Make good minor defects, including filling holes, repairing damaged surfaces, touching up paintwork, and addressing imperfections left following refurbishment works.
- Complete final snagging checks, identifying and rectifying outstanding defects, incomplete works, or areas requiring further attention before a property is signed off.
- Ensure fixtures, fittings, doors, ironmongery, and other finishing items are fitted securely, aligned correctly, and presented to a professional standard.
- Work alongside other trades and the wider voids team to ensure finishing works are completed in the correct sequence and properties are ready within agreed timescales.
- Check that properties meet the required Lettable Standard, reporting any significant defects, additional work requirements, or specialist issues to the relevant supervisor.
- Maintain a strong focus on quality, attention to detail, and getting the job right first time, minimising the need for remedial work and repeat visits.
- Work efficiently to support reduced void turnaround times while maintaining high standards of workmanship and presentation.
- Maintain clean, tidy, and safe working environments, removing waste and ensuring work areas are left presentable on completion.
- Follow all relevant health and safety procedures, company policies, specifications, and statutory requirements, using appropriate PPE at all times.
- Accurately record completed works, outstanding items, and any additional requirements using the relevant handheld device, job sheet, or works management system.
- Maintain company tools, equipment, and materials responsibly, ensuring they are used efficiently and kept in good working order.
- Provide support with minor repairs and general maintenance tasks where required to assist the wider voids operation.
You Will Need

- The ability to identify defects, carry out snagging, and ensure properties are completed to the required standard.
- Good time management skills and the ability to work efficiently to meet deadlines.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a wider team of tradespeople.
- An understanding of health and safety requirements when working in domestic properties.
- A full UK driving licence.
