The Role
We are looking for an experienced Damp & Mould Supervisor to oversee the delivery of damp, mould and condensation inspection and remedial activities across our social housing properties.
You will be responsible for supervising a team, coordinating workloads, reviewing inspections and reports, and ensuring that appropriate remedial solutions are identified and delivered to a high standard.
Working closely with residents, housing teams, contractors and internal stakeholders, you will help ensure that damp and mould cases are managed effectively, promptly and in accordance with relevant legislation, including HHSRS and Awaab’s Law.
The role will play an important part in ensuring residents live in safe, healthy and well-maintained homes while driving consistency, quality and continuous improvement across our damp and mould service.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support a team responsible for damp, mould and condensation inspections and remedial works.
- Allocate and monitor workloads, ensuring inspections and cases are managed within agreed timescales.
- Oversee property inspections and ensure damp, mould and condensation issues are accurately identified and diagnosed.
- Review inspection reports, specifications and recommendations to ensure they are accurate, appropriate and compliant.
- Ensure the underlying causes of damp and mould are correctly identified and appropriate remedial solutions are recommended.
- Monitor cases to ensure works are raised, progressed and completed within required timescales.
- Liaise with contractors and operational teams to ensure remedial works are delivered to the required specification and standard.
- Carry out quality checks, follow-up inspections and sign-off of completed works where required.
- Monitor performance, productivity, quality and compliance across the team.
- Provide technical guidance and support to inspectors, operatives and other relevant colleagues.
- Ensure appropriate consideration is given to vulnerable residents and cases requiring additional support or escalation.
- Work closely with housing, tenancy, safeguarding and support teams to ensure cases are managed effectively.
- Ensure residents receive clear, timely and sensitive communication throughout the process.
- Monitor recurring damp and mould issues and identify opportunities for preventative action and service improvement.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to stock condition and property data.
- Identify and escalate risks, delays, quality concerns and non-compliance.
- Support investigations into complaints, escalations and complex damp and mould cases.
- Ensure all activities are delivered in accordance with company policies, procedures, health and safety requirements and relevant housing legislation.
- Promote a strong culture of customer service, accountability, quality and continuous improvement.
What You’ll Need
- Previous experience in a supervisory or management role within property maintenance, housing, repairs or building services.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of damp, mould and condensation within residential properties.
- Experience identifying building defects and understanding their underlying causes.
- Good knowledge of social housing, property standards and resident health and safety.
- Understanding of HHSRS, Awaab’s Law and relevant housing requirements.
- Experience supervising teams and managing workloads and priorities.
- Ability to review technical reports, specifications and remedial recommendations.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with residents, colleagues and contractors.
- A strong customer-focused approach, particularly when dealing with vulnerable residents or sensitive cases.
- Ability to monitor performance, identify issues and implement appropriate actions.
- Good IT and administration skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records and reporting.
