Do you know and love the independent wine trade?

Are you an experienced wine sales professional who enjoys building trusted customer relationships, spotting commercial opportunities and helping independent wine merchants develop successful wine ranges?

If so, we would love to hear from you.

We are looking for a Regional Sales Account Manager to join our team, developing existing customer relationships and winning new business across Thames Valley and Anglia.

You will have the freedom to manage your own territory while representing Boutinot’s broad and distinctive portfolio of wines and working alongside knowledgeable colleagues who share a genuine passion for wine and for helping our customers succeed.

About Boutinot

At Boutinot, wine is at the heart of everything we do. Since 1980, we have been building long-term partnerships with producers around the world to source, create and supply exceptional wines to independent wine merchants, the hospitality sector and major retailers across the UK.

Today, we are one of the UK’s leading wine companies, combining our own award-winning production with an extensive portfolio from some of the world’s most respected wine regions. Our reputation has been built on expertise, quality, integrity and lasting relationships.

We are proud of our collaborative and supportive culture, where people are encouraged to learn, share ideas and develop their careers. You will be joining a business that is passionate about its people as well as its wines.

The role

At Boutinot, we believe in helping our customers sell the wines their customers want to drink. That means understanding their businesses, listening to what they need and recommending wines that will work for their customers—not simply selling products.

As Regional Sales Account Manager, you will build profitable, long-term relationships with predominantly independent wine merchants across your territory. You will help customers develop successful wine ranges while identifying opportunities to grow their businesses and ours.

Working alongside colleagues across Sales, Product, Marketing, Category Insight and Category Innovation, you will combine market knowledge, commercial awareness and an outstanding portfolio to support customers in an evolving market.

This is a field-based role covering Thames Valley and Anglia. You will work from home when completing administrative duties and travel regularly throughout the territory to visit customers and attend meetings, tastings and events.

The role reports to the Head of Sales South.

What you will be doing

  • Managing and developing trusted relationships with existing customers.
  • Taking time to understand each customer’s business, objectives and local market.
  • Identifying, developing and winning new business opportunities.
  • Creating account plans that support sustainable sales and profitable growth.
  • Recommending wines that reflect customer needs, consumer demand and commercial opportunities.
  • Using market and category insight to support customer buying decisions.
  • Introducing relevant new wines, ideas and product innovations.
  • Delivering agreed sales, distribution and profitability objectives.
  • Planning and managing your territory effectively.
  • Maintaining accurate customer information and sales activity using our CRM system.
  • Providing excellent customer service and taking ownership of issues through to resolution.
  • Representing Boutinot professionally at customer visits, tastings and trade events.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across Boutinot to support our customers and achieve shared goals.

We are looking for someone who

  • Has experience in a field-based sales, account management or business development role.
  • Has experience within the wine or wider alcoholic drinks industry.
  • Has good wine knowledge and a genuine enthusiasm for the industry.
  • Enjoys developing long-term customer relationships and winning new business.
  • Demonstrates strong commercial awareness and effective negotiation skills.
  • Is proactive, self-motivated and comfortable managing a territory independently.
  • Is organised, reliable and accountable for delivering results.
  • Holds a full UK driving licence.

A WSET qualification, experience working with independent wine merchants and experience using CRM systems would be advantageous, but are not essential.

We are interested in the knowledge and experience you already have, as well as your potential to learn, develop and succeed with Boutinot.

Why join Boutinot?

As well as joining a friendly, knowledgeable and collaborative team, you will have the opportunity to develop your career in the wine industry, work with an extensive and diverse wine portfolio and build long-term partnerships with independent wine merchants across your territory.

We offer:

  • Salary of £40,000–£50,000 per annum, depending on experience.
  • Car allowance.
  • Home-based working when you are not visiting customers or attending meetings.
  • Funded WSET training opportunities and support to develop your wine knowledge.
  • 25 days’ annual leave plus UK bank and public holidays.
  • A paid day off for your birthday.
  • Four paid wellbeing days each year—one per quarter.
  • Private health insurance after the qualifying length of service.
  • Workplace pension with a 7% employer contribution.
  • Cycle to Work scheme.
  • Electric vehicle scheme after the qualifying length of service.
