Volunteer Mentor (Pfizer employees only) – Remote

Purpose of the Role

You will be matched with one young woman (aged 16–22) to provide consistent, purposeful support over six months. Your role is not to fix, advise, or solve — it is to walk alongside her, helping her to:

• Strengthen her sense of agency and direction
• Build confidence in professional and real-world environments
• Practise articulating her goals and next steps
• Receive challenge and feedback without shutting down
• Navigate systems — education, employment, civic life — with greater clarity

Strong mentoring at this stage has a lasting impact. You are not simply a contact — you are building social capital and relational confidence that shapes how a young woman sees herself and what she believes is possible.

What You Will Do

Your core commitment

• Meet your mentee for up to 90 minutes each month for 6 months (in person or virtually)
• Prepare for each session using BelEve’s light-touch session framework
• Complete a brief reflection note after each meeting to track progress
• Attend an initial training and induction session (approx. 3 hours, online)
• Participate in a mid-point check-in with your BelEve Programme Lead
• Complete an end-of-programme reflection to support reporting

In each mentoring session you will

• Hold a structured, goal-focused conversation guided by your mentee’s priorities
• Offer honest challenge and genuine encouragement in equal measure
• Share experience, perspective, and insight — not instruction
• Help your mentee reflect on her progress, identify barriers, and plan her next steps
• Model professional communication, accountability, and self-awareness

Who We Are Looking For

You do not need a background in education, social work, or coaching. What matters is that you are someone who:

 

• Is committed, reliable, and will not cancel on a young woman who is counting on you
• Listens well and holds space without jumping to answers
• Can receive training and adapt your approach based on feedback
• Understands that your role is to strengthen agency — not to create dependency
• Is comfortable with honest conversations about ambition, barriers, and identity
• Takes safeguarding seriously and will follow BelEve’s policies at all times
