Junior Traffic Operator

Role Purpose

The Junior Transport Operator supports the day‑to‑day running of the transport operation. The role assists Operators, helping to manage contract operations, subcontractor relationships, ensuring operational compliance, and contributes to continuous improvement. This position is designed to build strong operational knowledge and develop towards more senior responsibilities.

Key Accountabilities

• Ensure smooth running of contract operations
• Build, maintain and develop relationships with colleagues, subcontractors and drivers
• Ensure drivers are correctly using EPOD
• Deliver continuous improvements by developing systems
• Any task reasonably requested by managers or directors of the business

Key Responsibilities

• Contract operations
• Achieve weekly subcontractor revenue target and maximise profitability
• Respond to customer queries, resolve issues and maintain service levels
• Support operators in planning and driver management
• Complete operational administration including POD processing and job input

Skills and Experience Required

Essential

• Competent IT skills
• Effective problem-solving skills
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Geographical knowledge and understanding of the transport market
• Ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple tasks
• Willingness to learn and develop within transport operations
• ADR Awareness – Mandatory

Desirable

• Previous experience in transport or logistics operations
• CPC qualification or willingness to work towards one
