Description

The Senior Project Engineer shall be responsible for managing and executing fabrication projects from concept through completion.

This role requires deep technical expertise in fabrication processes (including structural steel, piping, or modular assemblies).

The Senior Project Engineer ensures that projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Specific duties and responsibilities shall include the following:

  • Maintain health & safety compliance and implement best practices.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee structural and piping fabrication projects from award to completion, ensuring all work is executed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Develop project scopes, budgets, timelines, and resource plans.
  • Interpret drawings, specifications, and client requirements; prepare and monitor project budgets, material take-offs, and progress reports to support cost control and forecasting.
  • Act as the primary day-to-day point of contact for clients, providing updates, managing expectations, and maintaining strong working relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Work closely with design, procurement, workshop, and site teams to align priorities, resolve technical issues promptly, and ensure seamless information flow across departments.
  • Champion safe working practices and quality standards, ensuring compliance with company procedures and client specifications, while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and delivery performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement across operations and customer service.
  • Monitor KPIs, prepare internal and external reports, and ensure contractual obligations are met.
  • Manage change orders, contract claims, and project reporting in collaboration with commercial.
  • Responsible for the ownership and management of accurate project costs as they relate to the final estimate actual cost at completion, project programming, cost control, time control, quality control, purchasing, contact administration, general site administration and the activities of subcontractors.
  • Oversee project delivery to ensure deadlines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
  • Other responsibilities as directed by management

Skills, Abilities & Knowledge

  • 10+ years demonstrable experience in similar role for a fabrication business
  • Project Management training – PMI or APM accredited desirable but not essential.
  • Understand the complete business cycle RFQ’s, bidding, project management, executions of services, any claims.
  • Strong communication skills with senior level management
  • Exceptional attention to detail, and talent for accuracy and precision.
