Hiringa is a next-generation energy company developing, building and operating renewable energy and green hydrogen projects across Australia and New Zealand. We’re working to decarbonise hard-to-abate sectors, including heavy transport and industrial processes, by creating commercially sustainable energy infrastructure.
We’re looking for a Financial Accountant to support our Australian entities and projects. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys getting into the detail, improving how things work and turning financial information into practical insight for the wider business.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you’ll work closely with our finance, project and operations teams. You’ll take a lead role in Australian financial reporting and tax compliance while helping strengthen the systems, controls and information that support good commercial decisions.
Our Sydney office is located in central Sydney (Customhouse Quay) and in amongst other clean tech innovators.
Your work will include:
- Preparing monthly management accounts for our Australian entities
- Preparing Australian tax calculations and filings, including GST, FBT and income tax
- Leading annual financial statement preparation and supporting external audits
- Maintaining fixed asset registers, depreciation and asset capitalisation
- Supporting project budgets, forecasts and reporting by aligning financial and project accounting records
- Preparing cash flow forecasts and ad hoc financial analysis
- Supporting annual budgets and monthly or quarterly reforecasts
- Managing day-to-day interactions with the Australian Taxation Office and external advisers
- Strengthening internal controls and helping implement better finance systems, processes and data practices
- Working closely with the project cost controls team to maintain accurate coding and accounting treatment.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a capable, curious accountant who combines strong technical fundamentals with a practical and collaborative approach. You’ll be comfortable owning recurring deliverables, working across several entities and projects, and improving processes as the business grows.
You’ll bring:
- CA or CPA qualification, with at least two years’ post-qualification experience
- Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and IFRS
- Sound knowledge of Australian tax requirements, including GST, FBT and income tax
- Experience preparing management accounts, budgets, forecasts and annual financial statements in an in-house corporate environment
- Experience within Energy and/or Construction industries preferred but not essential.
- Confidence working with accounting platforms such as Xero, MYOB or other ERP systems
- Advanced Excel skills and an interest in using data and AI tools to work smarter
- High attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality work
- Clear written and verbal communication skills and the confidence to work with people across the business
- The ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and work with a high degree of confidentiality
