Origin Support Services Pty Ltd is looking for a team of compassionate, energetic and driven Disability Support Workers to join our growing company in Brisbane. We provide individualised and tailored care and support to people living with disabilities. We offer a wide range of support, services and programs to our participants and their families which includes:

• Community Access

• Supported Independent Living

• Respite Care and Short Term Accommodation (STA)

The opportunity is for a casual position working a flexible roster including weekends and overnight supports with progression into a permanent position for the right candidate.

Experience is preferred but not essential – You will have access to on the job training and a variety of Origin tools and resources.

About the Opportunity

As a Disability Support Worker you will be responsible for providing support and care to all our participants both in their home and out in the community. Support Workers will assist them with their day to day activities while encouraging their independence and respecting their choice and control.

Reporting to the Service Delivery Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Assisting our participants with day to day activities
  • Building relationships with our participants
  • Supporting our participants with appointments
  • Providing Support in a SIL house environment
  • Providing community access to our participants eg grocery shopping, recreational activities ect.
  • Ensuring our SIL homes is clean, tidy and organised
  • General cooking and domestic duties eg laundry, food preparation ect
  • Recording detailed Incident Reports and Shift Notes
  • Ensuring the participants needs are being met, paying particular focus to the goals outlined in their NDIS plan.

About You:

  • To be successful in the role you must have:
  • Yellow Card
  • Blue Card
  • Third party car insurance and use of your own motor vehicle for transporting participants
  • Drivers Licence
  • Full working rights within Australia
  • Must have good availability – able to work weekends and nights

Desirable:

  • Experience with MND
  • Experience with Dysphasia/choking
  • Following mealtime management plans
  • Previous experience supporting someone with Motor Neuron Disease, neurological conditions, or progressive illnesses
  • Manual handling Experience using mobility aids, hoists, or assistive equipment
  • Experience supporting alternative communication methods
  • Knowledge of NDIS support work practices
  • Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Aged Care, or similar
  • Experience with respiratory support equipment or PEG feeding

Essential:

  • Experience supporting people with physical disabilities or complexhealth needs
  • Compassionate, patient, and respectful approach to care’
  • Ability to follow care plans, Mealtime management plans and professional guidance
  • Physical capability to assist with transfers and mobility support
  • Reliability and strong sense of responsibility
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining clear communication with the care team
