Accountant

Summary:

We are seeking a qualified Accountant to join our dynamic team in Newcastle, New South Wales. This permanent, full-time position is essential for maintaining the financial integrity of our organisation. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing financial records, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing insightful financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements and reports in accordance with Australian accounting standards.
• Assist with accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely processing of invoices and payments.
• Conduct regular reconciliations of bank statements and general ledger accounts.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, providing variance analysis as required.
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations and assist in the preparation of tax returns.
• Support month-end processes, including journals, accruals, prepayments and general ledger activities.
• Reviewing financial information, investigating discrepancies and escalating issues where required.
• Support the audit process by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
• Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support business decisions.
• Identifying opportunities to improve the accuracy and efficiency of the finance processes.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
