About Us: 

The Indigenous Desert Alliance (IDA) is an Indigenous-led, member-based organisation that plays a vital role in keeping the desert connected and strengthening desert ranger programs. The IDA works with its members and partners to ensure that Indigenous rangers are enabled to collaboratively manage the Australian desert are empowered to realise their aspirations for community, culture, and Country.  We work with over 65 ranger groups from across the desert in our role to ‘Keep the Desert Connected’ and empower a united voice for the desert.  The Indigenous Land Management (ILM) sector includes Traditional Owners, Indigenous Rangers, and their land management organisations who undertake a wide range of cultural, environmental, and natural resource management activities. In Australia’s desert regions, which includes 22 Indigenous Protected Areas, these activities may include:   Cultural and ecological knowledge transfer initiatives Fire management Cultural site and heritage management Feral animal and weed control Threatened species monitoring and recovery projects Fee for service economic activities 

About the role: 

We’re looking for a highly organised and proactive Administration Support Officer to join our Corporate Services team in Alice Springs. 

This is a hands-on role that keeps the organisation running smoothly supporting day-to-day operations, coordinating travel and logistics, assisting with events, and providing key administrative support across teams. 

You’ll play an important role in supporting both internal operations and our broader engagement work. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Provide general administrative support across the organisation 
  • Coordinate travel, accommodation, and logistics for staff and events 
  • Support meetings, workshops, and stakeholder engagement activities 
  • Assist with fleet coordination including bookings, servicing, and records 
  • Maintain accurate records, registers, and office systems 
  • Support onboarding and induction of new staff 
  • Assist with reporting, documentation, and communications 
  • Provide administrative support to the Engagement team 

To be successful in this rewarding, diverse, and challenging role, you will bring: 

Experience in an administrative or office support role Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities Experience coordinating travel, meetings, or events High attention to detail and strong record-keeping skills Confident communication skills (written and verbal) Strong Microsoft Office skills and ability to learn new systems A professional, reliable and team-focused approach 

Desirable Qualifications, Skills, and Experience: 

A good understanding of remote Indigenous social, cultural, and economic contexts Previous experience working in an Aboriginal or culturally diverse organisation
