Disability Support Worker

About the role We are seeking a Disability Support Worker to join our team at Hability in Newcastle, NSW. This is a casual role, offering the flexibility to work hours that suit your lifestyle. As a Disability Support Worker, you will be responsible for providing personalised care and support to individuals with a range of intellectual and psychosocial disabilities, with a focus on capacity building. — What you’ll be doing – Assisting clients with daily living activities such as personal care, meal preparation, and social engagement – Implementing therapeutic programs and activities tailored to each client’s needs and goals – Providing emotional support and helping clients develop independent living skills – Documenting client progress and maintaining accurate records – Collaborating with the wider care team to ensure a coordinated and holistic approach – Adhering to all relevant policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements — What we’re looking for – A relevant qualification in Disability, Community Services, or a related field – Experience working with individuals with a range of disabilities, including experience in providing care within a positive behaviour support model – or a willingness to learn – Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients – Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting people with complex needs – A current First Aid certificate and a valid driver’s licence – A demonstrated commitment to providing high-quality, person-centred care that promotes participant choice and control at all times – Eligible to work in Australia with valid work rights or appropriate visa status — What we offer At Hability, we are committed to the wellbeing and professional development of our employees.
