The ideal candidate will have a passion for client engagement and managing their own client portfolio, as well as a keen interest in leading a team of accountants.
The role:
As an Accountant, your role will involve overseeing all aspects of tax accounting, from preparing and reviewing tax returns to providing strategic tax planning and advisory services. You will be responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to analyse financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of the firm.
Key duties and responsibilities:
• Preparation of annual financial statements, income tax returns, activity statements, FBT returns for all entity types
• Exposure to CGT, GST, Div7a, PSI matters and other tax calculations
• Assist with tax planning including identifying key strategies to optimise the clients tax position
• Client relationship management – building and growing current relationships with business owners and continuing to grow the client base
• Ad-hoc tasks including researching income tax matters and providing advice
• Assist with management and training of accounting team
• Assisting in review of team work, including financials, tax returns, BAS, IAS and special project work to bring jobs to completion
About you:
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in Public Practice Accounting
• CA/CPA qualified or currently working towards this
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to build rapport with new & existing clients and demonstrates a genuine care for people
• A growth and curious mindset enabling understanding of the full needs of clients
• Practical experience using Xero, Xero Workpapers and Xero Practice Manager
• Sound understanding of tax accounting principles and compliance requirements
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience managing staff desirable, but not essential
