ROLE:

As the face of our company, you will ensure a safe, enjoyable, and memorable fishing experience for our clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Safety: The Coxswain / Fishing Guide is responsible for ensuring the safety of all clients while on board the fishing vessel. It includes conducting safety briefings, monitoring weather conditions, and providing all safety equipment is in good working order.

Navigation: Should have strong navigation experience that includes understanding navigation rules and regulations, knowing how to read charts and plot courses, identifying navigational hazards such as buoys and markers, and using navigational instruments such as a compass and GPS.

Fishing Expertise: Must deeply understand fishing techniques, equipment, and local fish species. They must provide expert guidance to clients and help them catch fish.

Customer Service: Must provide excellent customer service and ensure that clients have a positive experience on their fishing trip. It includes assisting with bait and tackle, answering questions, and ensuring clients are comfortable and safe on board the vessel.

Maintenance: The Coxswain / Fishing Guide is responsible for maintaining the fishing vessel and ensuring that all equipment is in good working order. It includes performing routine checks, repairing, and reporting maintenance issues to management.

Record Keeping: Must keep accurate records of fishing trips, including catch logs and client information. They must also ensure that all fishing licenses and permits are up-to-date and in compliance with local regulations.

REQUIREMENTS:

Coxswain Qualification: A valid Coxswain Qualification is required for this role.

Fishing Experience: To be an excellent guide, it's essential to have a passion for fishing and the thrill of a catch. While the skills required to be a perfect guide can be taught, having a genuine love for the sport is crucial.

Customer Service Skills: Must actively drive 5-star customer satisfaction and have excellent customer service skills, and provide a positive experience for clients.

Physical Fitness: Must be physically fit and able to perform the role's duties, including handling fishing equipment and navigating the vessel.

Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for this role, as the Coxswain / Fishing Guide regularly communicates with clients and management.

Ability to Travel: Must be available for daily and overnight charters, with extended periods away during the Mothershipping Season in FNQ.

First Aid Certificate: Must hold the relevant first aid certificates or obtain them before commencement.
