About the role
We have a new opportunity for a lawyer to join our Historical Sexual Abuse team. This is an opportunity to forge your career and make a tangible difference to people who need your expertise and assistance through a difficult time in their life.
Work within a team of dedicated professionals, including your own support staff. You will have carriage of a varied practice of historical sexual abuse claims which are both litigated and non-litigated. Your clients are from a wide variety of backgrounds. The practice is busy and there is scope to build your own expertise and client matters.
A typical day is varied, requiring attention to detail, proactivity and diligence to maintain both Wyatts’ professional standards and empathy for our clients. Integrity in what we do is everything.
Skills and experience
A minimum of one year’s experience as a solicitor or senior paralegal. Experience within a practice of historical abuse claims is preferred, however it is not essential.
To be successful in the role you must be able to demonstrate the following:
• Ability to proficiently manage and progress a variety of historical sexual abuse, with a proven ability to meet targets for progressing matters efficiently.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• A commitment to absolute client care; dedication to obtaining the best result for our clients.
• A willingness to get involved, continue your own personal development and grow your practice.
• Demonstrated ability to build solid relationships, both internally and with clients.
• Positive, energetic and desire to succeed.
• Demonstrated strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise tasks for maximum results.
• Attention to detail, and able to manage large volumes of documents.
• Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
• Effectively and concisely draft legal documents.
• Interpret and communicate legal advice to clients in a straightforward way.
• Actively work with and coach junior staff.
• Hold a current Australian Practising certificate.
• Admitted as a lawyer to the Supreme Court of NSW.
