Veterinarian

Summary:

The Village Vet Toorak is a small animal first opinion practice in the heart of Toorak Village. We are looking for an experienced vet to join our team on a part-time basis, two days per week with opportunity to take on more shifts to cover sick leave and annual leave. We are a small team that values strong interpersonal skills and a true worklife balance. The role will include Saturday morning shifts on rotation, but no other out of hours responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and treat animal illnesses and injuries
• Operate medical equipment such as X-ray machines, ultrasound machines, and diagnostic equipment
• Perform surgeries, including spaying and neutering, lump removals and dentals
• Prescribe medication or treatment plans for animals
• Monitor the health of animals and provide preventative care such as vaccinations, parasite control, and dental care
• Educate animal owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and preventative healthcare
• Document medical records of animals and track all treatments provided
• Stay up to date on new developments and research in veterinary medicine

Qualifications:

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited institution
• Licensure to practice veterinary medicine in the state of employment
• Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
• Communication skills to educate and interact with animal owners and medical staff.
• Good time management and organizational skills
• Physical ability to lift, restrain, and move animals.
