About the Role
As the People and Culture Manager you will play a key national leadership role in shaping our workplace culture, driving employee engagement and supporting strategic business outcomes. Reporting directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), you will lead initiatives across talent development, workforce planning, employee relations, and organisational culture – ensuring alignment with VDI’s mission and values. This role includes managing and supporting a small HR team, providing leadership, guidance, and coordination to ensure the effective delivery of people and culture initiatives across the business.
Please note: This role is office based from our Melbourne Yutong Bus Centre located in Craigieburn.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Culture
• Champion a positive, inclusive, and high-performance culture across all departments
• Advance our ongoing commitment to championing diversity, equity, and inclusion
• Provide strategic HR guidance to managers, team leaders and the HR team
• Lead workforce planning, succession, and talent development initiatives
Employee Engagement & Development
• Design and implement learning and development programs
• Facilitate coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback processes
• Drive employee engagement through surveys, action plans, and recognition programs
Operational HR Excellence
• Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies
• Ensure compliance with employment legislation and company policies
• Manage employee relations, conflict resolution, and workplace investigations
Change & Innovation
• Support organisational change initiatives and continuous improvement
• Lead HR projects that enhance systems, processes, and employee experience
What You will Bring
• Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources Management or commensurate experience
• Proven experience in a senior HR or People & Culture management role, ideally in transport, logistics, or manufacturing
• Strong leadership, coaching, and interpersonal skills
• Deep understanding of Australian employment law and HR best practices
• Diverse approach to people management
• Experience in leading HR and change management projects
• Demonstrated experience in Performance Management
• Demonstrated experience with payroll processes
• A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a passion for people and innovation
