The Data Analyst at URBNSURF leads the development of data models, interactive reporting dashboards and insights to support operational and financial business leaders. This role is responsible for interpretating the business’ data requirements and transforming the raw data into actionable insights.
This role will play a vital role by delivering all data and insights to underpin the financial and commercial business direction for the expansion of URBNSURF systems and data management.
Some of the day-to-day tasks
Data Engineering and Modelling
- Develop, maintain, and optimise data models, datasets, and ETL processes using PySpark Notebooks in Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse and Power BI.
- Build and maintain semantic models that support standardised reporting.
- Design and publish interactive dashboards and paginated reports that provide visibility into key business metrics.
- Use DAX and Power Query to create calculated measures, columns, and data transformations that power key business logic and visualisations.
- Translate analytical and business requirements into clear data engineering tasks, participating in sprint planning or backlog refinement as needed.
Data Analysis
- Conduct deep-dive analyses on customer behaviour, operational performance, and commercial outcomes.
- Track and interpret key metrics such as customer retention, visit frequency, revenue, and session occupancy.
- Identify trends, anomalies, and performance drivers through structured analysis and visualisation.
- Apply segmentation, cohort analysis, and forecasting to support strategic initiatives.
Stakeholder Communication & Storytelling
- Partner with teams across marketing, operations, and leadership to understand business needs and develop detailed requirements.
- Present data-driven findings to non-technical stakeholders using clear visual storytelling in Power BI and PowerPoint.
- Lead business meetings with cross-functional stakeholders to align on insights, drive decisions, and establish next steps.
- Act as a data translator—bridging the gap between technical outputs and commercial priorities.
Skills and abilities
- Demonstratable experience with MS PowerBI, data lakehouses such as MS Fabric (or similar), including Data Lakes and Delta Tables
- Strong skills in Notebooks and ETL tools
- Strong understanding of the end-to-end Data & Insights lifecycle
- Proven experience in managing competing priorities and workload across ad-hoc data requests, strategic reporting, and longer-term analytical projects.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with business stakeholders
- Experience in ticketing, retail or startup businesses is desirable, but not essential
