THE AMAZING ROLE
We are seeking an early years professional who
- is a specialist in long day care – someone who speaks fluent infant & toddler and in the next breath, can respond to complicated science and technology questions for kindergarten-ers and who knows how to extinguish a volcano!
- who knows their early years pedagogy and knows what excellence looks like, and who

This is an Assistant Director role, working with a very experienced and dedicated Centre Director, at our Billy Button Children’s Centre in Footscray, part of the Footscray City Education Precinct. The centre is state of the art, and includes both a long day care service and a busy 2-room sessional kindergarten.

As the Assistant Director you will be responsible for people managment including effective rostering, leave management and coordinating internal relief staff. You will be able to manage the XAP Childcare enrolment platform and other paperwork and documentation. You will share the day to day management of the centre with the Centre Director.
You will work collaboratively with all team members to create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment that prioritises the safety and well-being of all children.
- Permanent and full time
- RDOs every 4 weeks
- Rotating roster
- Up to $34.55 per hour, subject to experience – Retention Grant Increase will be applied shortly and back-paid to start date

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED
- Substantial experience in a leadership position in the early childhood E&C sector
- Positive staff leadership results
- Skilled at having the difficult conversations with families and staff members
- Strong administrative, rostering and enrolment management experience
- Experience in both long day care and sessional kindergarten environments would be highly regarded
- Hold an approved Diploma of ECEC or higher relevant qualification
- Demonstrated understanding and day-to-day application of the National Quality Standards and Early Years Learning Framework.
- A high level of oral and written communication skills.
