About the role:

We currently have an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Technical Officer – Mohs to join our Darlinghurst and Westmead team on a full-time (5 days per week) basis or part-time basis (3 days a week). The primary objective of the position is for the reception, preparation, performance, processing of tests and technical work, with particular reference to Moh’s Micrographic Surgery. This will include maintenance of a quality service via performance, documentation and adherence to the quality control system in place. This position will also support with clinical stock management and other duties as directed. The role reports to the Deputy Director of Nursing.

What we are looking for:

To be successful, ideally your experience will have been gained in the health sector, including:

  • Have excellent skills in frozen sectioning service and microtome cutting
  • Demonstrate competence in staining methods for frozen sections, both by hand and/or automated,
  • Have a high attention to detail and a collaborative approach to your work
  • Be equipped to provide support to doctors and nurses to assist them to fulfill their clinical services.

Essential Criteria

  • Experience in cryostat frozen sectioning techniques is essential, however the right combination of general anatomical pathology experience, skills, personality and reliability is sought.
  • Have experience at cutting tissue sections using a cryostat desirable;
  • Have previous experience in routine histopathology;
  • Hold the Associate Diploma in Health Sciences (Medical Technology) or equivalent
  • Have good communication and organisational skills;
  • Have the ability to work well both individually and within a team environment
  • Be available to work between the hours of 7am – 6pm Monday to Friday.
