The Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Business Partner plays a key role in driving a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement across the business. This role supports the delivery of our HSE strategy, with a strong focus on compliance, risk management, and embedding safety into everyday operational practices, particularly within our transport activities. Working closely with operational leaders, the HSE Business Partner provides practical guidance, leads investigations, and contributes to initiatives that enhance our safety systems and performance.
What you will be doing…
- Partnering with operational leaders to embed safe work practices into daily routines and support a proactive, risk-aware culture across all levels of the business.
- Providing expert advice and practical guidance on WHS legislation, Chain of Responsibility (CoR), Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL), and internal HSE policies.
- Supporting the ongoing maintenance and continuous improvement of our safety systems, ensuring they remain compliant, user-friendly, and operationally relevant.
- Coordinating accreditation requirements such as NHVAS and assisting with internal and external audits.
- Identifying HSE training needs and supporting the rollout and tracking of mandatory and role-specific training programs across various teams.
- Leading and supporting incident investigations, including near misses and serious incidents, ensuring thorough root cause analysis and timely close-out of corrective actions.
- Supporting teams in incident reporting and escalation processes, ensuring compliance with internal protocols and regulatory obligations.
- Conducting regular site inspections, internal audits, and risk assessments, identifying hazards and collaborating with teams to implement effective solutions.
- Monitoring safety performance using lead and lag indicators, analysing data trends, and preparing reports for internal stakeholders.
- Maintaining up-to-date and accurate HSE documentation and records in line with audit, compliance, and reporting requirements.
Do you have…
- Experience in a HSE or safety-related role, ideally within transport or logistics environments.
- Strong understanding of WHS legislation, CoR, HVNL, and safety best practices.
- Proven ability to lead investigations and drive effective close-out of corrective actions.
- Confidence in conducting audits, inspections, and engaging teams on risk and compliance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence across all levels.
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to continuous improvement.
