The opportunity

Due to an increase in demand from our existing client base, we have a unique opportunity for a Principal Consultant – HazMat to join our East Coast operations located in our Brisbane (QLD) office. This position is responsible for the development, scoping, quoting, delivery, and ongoing support of HAZMAT strategies, programs, and projects that align with the company’s strategic direction.

Key responsibilities of the position

• Provide day-to-day technical support to the East Coast HazMat team

• Plan and deliver Company services to clients that require principal-level competency and/or capability

• Develop and implement training related to people development plans to improve the competence and capability of team members

• Liaise and engage with clients to understand their needs/requirements and ensure that the team provides a high-quality level of service

• Liaise and build effective working relationships with clients to support the team in securing and delivering a pipeline of work

• Oversee all technical report writing and performance reporting requirements within the scope of works and stipulated timeframes

• Oversee technical project requirements and mentor consultants on methods of best practice

• Apply robust quality assurance measures and professional analytical skills to ensure compliance with regulatory and standards

• Undertake and deliver risk assessments and detailed scientific reports

To be successful in this position you will have

• Substantial industry experience in HazMat

• Success in previous consultancy roles within a corporate and operational setting

• Ability to balance workload, conflicting priorities, and effectively handle difficult situations

• Excellent relationship building and communication skills

• Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations

Required qualifications

• PTA Certification / Licensed Asbestos Assessor

• (I)P402 Building Surveys & Bulk sampling for Asbestos

• (E) (I)P403 Asbestos Fibre Counting (PCM)

• (E) (I)P404 Air Sampling and Clearance Testing of Asbestos

• Current open Drivers Licence

Desired qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environment, or science (or equivalent)

• IP405 – Asbestos Management in Buildings

• CCP (Asbestos) – Certified Competent Person
