Process Engineer

Technology • Marrickville, New South Wales 2204, Australia • Full-time

Description

The Opportunity

We’re seeking a Process Engineer to help us shape and refine the way our systems operate – not just on the bench, but in the field. This role is suited to someone who enjoys thinking in flows, interfaces, and system behaviour – someone who can connect the dots between how things are designed and how they function in real-world operation.

While day-to-day test execution is supported by other team members, this role focuses on refining the engineering logic behind our system layout, identifying opportunities for simplification, and ensuring readiness for future scale-up. You’ll support early build efforts where needed, but the emphasis is on driving clarity and consistency across how the system components come together.

Responsibilities

  • Map and refine process flow logic — from feed inputs to downstream outputs – with a focus on simplicity, reliability, and adaptability.
  • Work with design and testing teams to align physical build configurations with intended process behaviour.
  • Identify bottlenecks, integration risks, or inconsistencies across subsystems and propose practical resolutions.
  • Support internal documentation, SOP development, and version control of evolving process configurations.
  • Contribute engineering judgement to layout decisions, interface planning, and future scale-up requirements.
  • Follow safe work practices and contribute to maintaining a well-managed workspace aligned with WHS guidelines.

Required skills/qualifications

  • A degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Process Engineering (or related).
  • A track record of engineering coordination or process refinement in a prototyping or early product setting.
  • Strong system thinking and an ability to visualise interdependencies across components and workflows.
  • Familiarity with flow schematics, part routing, or basic instrumentation (not necessarily control theory).
  • A practical mindset, with good communication habits and a healthy discomfort with ambiguity.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe, organised, and compliant working environment in line with WHS expectations.

Preferred skills/experience (not essential)

  • Experience with early-stage product scale-up, modularisation, or test rig design.
  • Exposure to industrial gas, fluid, or thermal systems.
  • Familiarity with documentation platforms (e.g., P&IDs, revision-controlled workflows, build notes).
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with design, prototyping, and test teams to maintain system alignment.
