Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head Detailer to lead a detailing team at Marine Detailing Company, based in Auckland. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of marine detailing operations, ensuring the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction are met. This role requires a hands-on leader who can manage day-to-day detailing tasks, supervise staff, and contribute to the growth and success of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Supervision: Lead, train, and manage a team of detailers, ensuring adherence to company standards and procedures. Schedule and coordinate detailing jobs to maximize efficiency and meet customer deadlines. Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for the detailing team.
  • Detailing Services: Oversee and participate in the cleaning, polishing, and waxing of boat exteriors and interiors. Ensure all detailing work is completed to the highest standards, paying close attention to detail. Inspect completed work to ensure it meets customer expectations and company quality standards.
  • Customer Service: Maintain strong relationships with clients, addressing any concerns or feedback promptly. Provide quotes and estimates for detailing services, working closely with the sales team. Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering high-quality services on time.
  • Operations Management: Manage inventory and order supplies as needed to ensure the team has the necessary tools and products. Implement and maintain health and safety protocols in the workplace. Develop and refine detailing processes to improve efficiency and service quality.
  • Business Development: Work closely with the management team to identify opportunities for business growth. Contribute to marketing efforts by providing expertise and insights into the detailing process. Stay updated on industry trends and innovations in marine detailing.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in detailing, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Skills: Expertise in various detailing techniques, including cleaning, polishing, and waxing. Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality. Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physical tasks related to detailing, including lifting, bending, and working in various weather conditions.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in marine detailing or related fields are a plus.
