About the Roles
We have two roles available working across our farms in the Childers region, QLD.
Role #1 Irrigation Assistant
Reporting to the Farm Manager you will be responsible for all hands-on irrigation related duties. The absolute focus of this role is to ensure that the irrigation systems provide our orchards with vital nutrients.
Responsibilities
• Assist with the programming of automated irrigation controllers
• Using soil moisture probes, manual checking and other tools to monitor and apply irrigation water
• Assist with the application of fertilizer through fertigation systems
• Follow irrigation schedules, recording all irrigation inputs
• Irrigation labour tasks such as repairing valves, sprinklers, digging trenches, replacing poly pipe
Essential Criteria
• Previous experience in farming/landscaping irrigation
• Demonstrated experience with irrigation controllers (manual and automated OR the willingness to learn how to use automated controllers)
• Ability to work with app-based software, communicate findings, read and execute watering schedules
• Physically fit to undertake labour tasks
• Current QLD Drivers Licence and reliable transport
Role #2 Machine Operator/ Farm Hand
To provide overall support to the Farm Manager and Supervisor, ensuring all aspects of Macadamia farming are executed to the highest of standards.
Responsibilities
- Complete all aspects of Farm Hand work including but not limited to pruning, root stocking, mistletoe removal
- Complete all aspects of Operator work including spraying, mowing, slashing and mulching of farms
- Operate other heavy machinery
- Where required and competent to do so, assist in daily, weekly monthly equipment maintenance, including Tractors, Harvesters and other farm machinery and equipment
Essential Criteria
• Previous experience in farming/machine operation
• Ability to work with app-based software
• Physically fit to undertake labour tasks
• Current QLD Drivers Licence and reliable transport
