HWG – ALL • Sydney, New South Wales 2000, Australia • Full-time

Description

• Hands-on role in a growing, visionary team

• Respected West Australian private company

• NSW or QLD based

Vasse Felix, Margaret River’s founding wine estate, and Idée Fixe, its celebrated house of sparkling Blanc de Blancs, represent the pinnacle of Australian fine wine. With a legacy of excellence, innovation and uncompromising quality, these two brands continue to set the benchmark in their categories both at home and internationally.

Heytesbury Wine Group is seeking an experienced, results-driven Market (Sales) Manager to champion Vasse Felix and Idée Fixe in New South Wales and Queensland. This role is pivotal in deepening our trade relationships, building brand presence, and driving growth in two of Australia’s most influential markets.

As the face of these prestigious wine brands, you will lead in-market execution, collaborating with the National Sales & Distribution Manager, Brand Managers, and distributor partners to elevate brand equity and distribution across on-premise and fine wine retail channels. You’ll bring our brand stories to life for key trade and retail stakeholders. This is a unique opportunity for a passionate wine professional to join a legacy-driven, forward-thinking team that values quality, creativity, and connection.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the National Sales Manager in executing the independent retail and on-premise fine wine retail wholesale sales priorities by collaborating with the Brand & Distribution team to develop and implement strategies that drive brand and commercial objectives.
  • Collaborate with Brand Managers to prioritize winemaker market visits, secure distributor engagement, deliver exceptional brand experiences, and optimize commercial returns.
  • Cultivate and leverage relationships with key wine industry influencers, including sommeliers, F&B managers, and trade associations, to enhance brand visibility and influence.
  • Participate in tastings and events in market.
  • Execute the Wholesale sales channel strategies (and tactical plans).
  • Drive growth in the independent retail and on-premise Fine Wine sales—volume, value, GP, distribution, and account penetration, through targeted consumer and trade marketing strategies.
  • Engage directly (hands on) in trade with key stakeholders, opinion leaders, and Area Managers to strengthen market presence and relationships.
  • Develop and execute integrated trade campaigns within the independent non-chain channel (in conjunction with the national distribution team).
  • Conduct regular reviews with East Coast UWP Sales managers, holding them accountable to budgets and vision.
  • Work with the NSM to establish direct relationships with key ONP groups on the East Coast, and work with distribution partner to drive group listings.
  • Develop a key network of fellow brand ambassadors to strengthen on-premise presence, drive brand advocacy, and support market growth through targeted consumer engagement.
  • Lead new business acquisition within the on-premise channel through strategic business development, targeted prospecting, and relationship-driven selling.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Previous experience in the wine, hospitality or retail liquor industry is essential.
  • WSET Level 2 qualifications (or equivalent wine knowledge) and an established network in the wine industry is desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills and ability to engage with key stakeholders of varying backgrounds to deliver exceptional experiences and achieve targets and results.
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships and drive sales, complemented by solid commercial acumen and proficiency in margin management and performance reporting.
  • Ability to work autonomously with a proactive mindset, applying strategic thinking and a strong sense of urgency to consistently achieve performance goals.
  • A finger on the pulse of the NSW and QLD wine and restaurant scene.
  • Exceptional negotiation and presentation skills, with the ability to influence key stakeholders and drive commercial outcomes.
  • A strategic self-motivator with a genuine desire to make a mark as part of an influential wine organisation.
  • A current driver’s licence and access to transport for work.
