Summary:

Fitzroy Island Resort is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our culinary team as an Apprentice Chef. This exciting opportunity is perfect for someone eager to kick-start their career in the hospitality industry, with the chance to learn from experienced professionals in a world-class setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of food items
  • Learn how to use kitchen equipment and tools
  • Follow recipes and instructions from senior chefs
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment
  • Assist with inventory management and ordering supplies
  • Learn about food safety and hygiene practices
  • Complete practical training and assessments as part of your apprenticeship program.
  • Attend TAFE for additional studies and certification as required.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Passion for cooking and a genuine interest in developing a career as a chef.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Open to receiving constructive feedback and improving culinary skills.
  • Must be 18+ as living on the island is a requirement.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Some experience in a kitchen environment preferred
  • Passion for food and cooking
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from senior chefs
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow recipes accurately
