Principal Bioprocess Engineer

Research & Development • Brisbane, Queensland 4000, Australia • Full-time

Description

About Us

Eden Brew is a ground-breaking new way to enjoy dairy products sustainably and nutritiously, backed by CSIRO, Main Sequence Ventures and Norco. We’re on a mission to create the world’s first precision-fermented milk the whole world can enjoy, sustainably.

Protein demand will double by 2050. How will we feed 10 billion people? As the global population increases, so will demand for high-quality protein. No Planet B (or C): The UN projects the world will need 3x the planetary resources if we continue relying on traditional farming methods. All resources are finite: We must make the best use of resources within our planetary boundaries to minimise environmental impact.

Deliciously sustainable solution. Nature-identical: The milk people love, without cows, while freeing up land for rewilding and carbon sequestration. Precision-fermented: Utilising existing production and distribution facilities, ready to scale fast. Protein-rich: Milk, ice cream, cheese, yoghurt – all dairy products are possible.

The Eden Brew Team

The Eden Brew team is passionate, creative, driven and caring, and we are devoted to building our team with like-minded professionals. We are committed to growing together, to breaking boundaries and sharing in success with each other and our partners. Being a part of Eden Brew means being part of our incredible journey of changing the world. We are conquering new frontiers in science that will help to create a sustainable future for all creatures, great and small. Every hire we make is critical to our mission and a highly-valued member of the team, creating a revolutionary way to make precision-fermented dairy.

Role Purpose and Description

The Principal Bioprocess Engineer’s role is to design and implement scalable bioprocess strategies for both model and non-model microbial strains. The end goal of the processes will be single or combinations of alternative precision-fermented dairy proteins that meet existing production standards for quality and safety.

The Principal Bioprocess Engineer will guide the bioprocess team to optimise and improve the efficiency of protein production processes within new or existing strains. The ideal candidate will be an experienced manager and mentor with a high level of technical proficiency and deep expertise in bioprocess engineering upstream and downstream.

A track record that demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of product development, extensive experience at scale up, process improvements, validation, and transfer of production processes. Capacity to work on complex problems where analysis of processes and data requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple parameters. Aptitude to determine the scope and timing of transfer activities. Ability to defined practices and policies in selecting methods and evaluation criteria for defined product specification that adhere to regulatory standards. They will interact closely stakeholders which will include technology transfer to third party contract research providers and large-scale manufacturing partners.
