Reports to: Youth Ministry Team Leader

Employment Status: Full-Time Ongoing (Part-Time negotiable)

The Diocese of Sandhurst, through its ministries and agencies, is at the service of the people of God, proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ in their communities and daily lives.

Presided over by the Bishop of Sandhurst, the Diocese comprises around 90,000 Catholics and a wide variety of people, cultures, and ministries. The Chancery Office and Diocesan entities provide services and support to 38 parishes and 56 schools through pastoral, educational, social welfare, and administrative support.

The Opportunity:

Applications are invited to join the Sandhurst Youth Ministry Team in this exciting time of renewal.

We are looking for two passionate and vibrant people to take on the Youth Ministry Officer roles. The successful applicants will support the design and execution of events, networks, formational opportunities and the implementation of the Sandhurst Youth Ministry partnership between parishes and priests, Catholic Education Sandhurst Office and schools, and the Diocesan Chancery.

They will be able to present the values and ideals of Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church to the young people of the Diocese, fostering the personal and spiritual growth of young people in the Diocese, by drawing them into responsible participation in the life, mission and work of the Catholic faith community and empowering them to live as missionary disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today.

Previous experience in active youth ministry leadership, or in working with young people is a desired attribute.

Working alongside the Sandhurst Youth Ministry Team leader, the Youth Ministry Officers will support Diocesan Youth Ministry initiatives, events and communication strategies.

About You:

  • You have a passion for young people with a positive vision for young people’s role in the Church and society.
  • You are able to demonstrate previous experience in active youth ministry, or in working with young people in schools.
  • You have the capacity to work collaboratively as part of a team and possess well-developed interpersonal skills to interact with other people both individually and in groups.
  • You have an understanding of and a commitment to promoting the principles of Catholic Social Teaching and Gospel values within the workplace.
  • You are proficient in the use of social media and other digital technologies.
  • You are able to work independently and under guidance.
  • You have a range of skills to support the planning and operational aspects of Youth Ministry
  • You are in a position where you can reasonably commit at least two years to this role.
