The role:
We are seeking a Consumer Representative to provide a patient’s perspective and advocate for the needs of those who use our services. In this role, you will contribute to decision-making, policy development, and service improvement, ensuring CareFlight continues to meet the highest standards of safety and quality in aeromedical care.
This role aligns with the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) (Ambulance) Standards which focus on:
• Clinical safety and risk management to maintain high-quality clinical care.
• Effective communication and consumer partnerships to support patient engagement.
• Continuous improvement through patient feedback and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
• Participate in CareFlight’s Clinical Executive Committee and other clinical committees as required.
• Attend 10–12 meetings per year (each lasting 1–3 hours) via Microsoft Teams.
• Provide valuable insights based on lived experiences as a past patient or consumer (non-CareFlight clinician, community representative or family member of a past patient)
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to enhance patient-centred care.
• Identify opportunities for improvement and contribute to service design.
• Advocate for and support the needs of remote communities, ensuring their perspectives are considered in service delivery and improvement.
Who We’re Looking For:
You don’t need to be an expert in aeromedical services or a past patient — we are looking for someone who is:
• Comfortable sharing their experiences and knowledge to improve healthcare services.
• Passionate about patient advocacy, consumer representation from community.
• Able to contribute meaningfully to discussions and decision-making.
